Jazz bassist and tuba player George "Pops" Foster was born in McCall, LA on May 19, 1892. Foster's lengthy career included stints with King Oliver, Fate Marable's group, Luis Russell, Louis Armstrong, and Earl Hines. He passed away in San Francisco on October 30, 1969 at age 77. "I'm In Love Again" by Fats Domino reached No. 1 on the R&B Chart on May 19, 1956. The song, written by Domino and Dave Bartholomew, held on to the top spot for 9 weeks and remained on the chart for a total of 26 weeks. It was Domino's first single to crack the Top 10 on the Pop chart, peaking at No. 3. The B-side of the single was "My Blue Heaven" which reached No. 4 on the R&B Chart.

The talented singer, songwriter, and actress ("Yellowstone") has won multple Country Music Association Awards and multple Academy of Country Music Awards. She won Best Country Album Grammy in 2024 for "Bell Bottom Country". She has received a total of 6 Grammy nominations as of 2026.
Morse, Louisiana native Jessie Lloyd Stutes (Jay Stutes) passed away in Jennings, LA on May 19, 2000 at age of 66. Stutes played steel guitar and sang on the 1961 Cleveland Crochet & The Hillbilly Ramblers hit "Sugar Bee" (the first Cajun song to enter the Billboard Hot 100).
