1994
Clarinet great Willie Humphrey passed away in New Orleans on June 7, 1994 at age 93. Humphrey's early career included stints with the Excelsior Brass Band, Lawrence Duhe, and King Oliver. In later years he worked with Paul Barbarin, Sweet Emma Barrett, and at Preservation Hall. "It's Your Love", by Delhi, LA native Tim McGraw (featuring his wife Faith Hill) hit #1 on the Billboard Country Chart on June 7, 1997. The tune topped the chart for 6 straight weeks, and was nominated for a Grammy Award (Best Country Collaboration With Vocals).
