Noted guitarist and prolific 1950's & 60's session player Justin Adams was born in New Orleans on June 1, 1923. As a member of Dave Bartholomew's classic session band, Adams played on recordings by Little Richard ("Tutti Frutti"), Fats Domino ("When My Dreamboat Comes Home"), Smiley Lewis, Frankie Ford, Shirley and Lee, and many others. He passed away in New Orleans on July 2, 1991 at age 68. Read more here.

The Rolling Stones kicked off their "Tour of the Americas" with 2 shows at LSU Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, LA on June 1, 1975. Guitarist Ron Wood, making his concert debut with the Stones, celebrated his 28th birthday on this day. See the concert set list. Country music star Kix Brooks (of Brooks & Dunn fame) began a 5 day trip aboard a Sea-Doo in 1999 to raise funds for St. Judes Children's Hospital in Memphis. The aquatic benefit took Brooks from Nashville to New Orleans.

Harry Connick, Jr.'s big band album "Come By Me" was released on June 1, 1999. Harry also appeared on the Rosie O'Donnell show on this day in 1999, performing the album's title tune with his big band.
