1919 Gospel and R&B vocalist Joe Gaines was born in New Orleans on May 30, 1919. Gaines recorded with the The Humming Four, Fat Man Matthews & The Four Kittens, The Hawks, as Little Joe Gaines, Joe Gaines and the Original Hi-Lites, and others. Gaines passed away on May 16, 1989. Read more here.

1995 The 1994 Brooks & Dunn album "Waitin' on Sundown" was certified double platinum by the RIAA on May 30, 1995. It went 3x Platinum on February 28, 1997. Side note: John Wesley Ryles provided background vocals on the album.
1999 Aaron Neville performed at the National Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the Capitol in Washington DC on May 30, 1999.
2000 Noted record producer Tom Ayres (Thomas V. Ayres Jr.) passed away at his Shreveport home on May 30, 2000 at age 66. Ayres worked for Dot Records, ABC Records, Columbia Records, United Artists, Kama Sutra Records, Buddha Records, RCA Records, Hanna-Barbera, and others.
