2010 Jazz Fest
The 2010 Jazz Fest will take place on the weekends of April 23 - April 25 and April 29 - May 2. Mark your calendars & book your hotel rooms now!
Jazz Fest Tickets
2010 Jazz Fest tickets are now on sale at Ticketmaster. Weekend Discount Ticket Packages ($120 for 1st weekend / $160 for 2nd weekend) will only be available until February 19th. After Feb. 19th, only single day tickets will be available. Single day advance tickets are $45; they will be $60 at the gate.

2010 Jazz Fest Poster
The official Jazz and Heritage Festival Poster for 2010 features late, great musician, entertainer and Big Easy native Louis Prima. Get Well Soon
Our thoughts & prayers go out to R&B legend Etta James who was recently hospitalized for a variety of ailments; the singer, 72, performed at Jazz Fest in 2009. She is known for the hit single "At Last", but my all-time favorite is "The Wallflower" aka "Roll with Me Henry" aka "Dance with Me Henry."
Preservation Hall Jazz Band & My Morning Jacket
My Morning Jacket and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band are teaming up for several tour dates this spring. My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James and Terence Blanchard are scheduled to sit in with the PHJB during their Jazz Fest set on April 25th. The PHJB is also expecting to sit in with MMJ during their Jazz Fest set on April 24th. More info here.
2010 Foundation Gala
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival & Foundation will hold their 2010 Gala fundraiser on April 22 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. This year's event will feature a lifetime tribute to Dr. John. Music will be provided by Dr. John, Jon Cleary, the Foundation's Heritage School of Music, and many special guests. The preliminary list of 2010 Fest performers has been announced. The line-up includes Simon & Garfunkel, Aretha Franklin, Pearl Jam, Allman Brothers Band, Levon Helm, My Morning Jacket, Widespread Panic, Van Morrison, The Black Crowes, B.B. King, Gov't Mule, Jeff Beck, The Dead Weather, Elvis Costello, and many more.
Ponderosa Stomp Moves to Fall
The Ponderosa Stomp music series, which has been held in between Jazz Fest weekends for the last 8 years, will be moving to fall of 2010 (dates TBA). Read more here.

Jazz Fest Tickets
Advance 2009 Jazz Fest tickets can be purchased from Ticketmaster.com. Advance one day Jazz Fest tickets are $40 (they will be $50 at the gate). There are also premium VIP packages available. You can also buy advance tickets for the "Jazz Fest Express" shuttle service (recommended!) which runs from downtown New Orleans to the Fair Grounds (and back).

R.I.P. Eddie Bo
New Orleans has lost another legend with the passing of Eddie Bo on March 18, 2009. The late, great piano man was scheduled to play at Jazz Fest on April 26th and 30th, and also at the annual WWOZ Piano Night. For more info, see WWOZ; Times-Picayune, AMG bio. A memorial service for Eddie is planned for April 1st at the Mid-City Lanes Rock 'n' Bowl.

In the Spirit
View the works of late music and cultural photographer Michael P. Smith while you're in the Big Easy for Jazz Fest. "In the Spirit: The Photography of Michael P. Smith" marks the inaugural public presentation of the Michael P. Smith Archive from the Historic New Orleans Collection. Louisiana Rock 'n' Roll Exhibit
The Ponderosa Stomp will be presenting "Unsung Heroes: The Secret History of Louisiana Rock & Roll" beginning April 26th at The Louisiana State Museum at the historic Cabildo in New Orleans Jackson Square. R.I.P. Snooks Eaglin
NOLA R&B legend Snooks Eaglin passed away on February 18th, at age 72, after suffering a heart attack; the guitar great was scheduled to perform at the '09 Jazz Fest on Sunday, May 3rd; see Times-Picayune; Louisiana Weekly; 1999 AMG bio.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation's 11th Annual Gala Fundraiser is scheduled for April 23rd. This year's event will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, spotlighting the famed New Orleans music venue The Dew Drop Inn; "The Dew Drop Inn Revisited All-Stars" will feature Allen Toussaint, Eddie Bo, Al "Carnival Time" Johnson, Robert Parker, and Wanda Rouzan along with The N'Awlins All-Stars; Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and the TBC Brass Band are also scheduled to perform.
