The album "They All Played For Us: Arhoolie Records 50th Anniversary Celebration" includes performances by David Doucet, Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band, Treme Brass Band, and Savoy Family Band. The "Django Unchained" soundtrack includes a track by Brother Dege, AKA Dege Legg ("Too Old to Die Young"). Cee Lo Green was nominated in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category for "Cee Lo's Magic Moment". The album features a guest appearance by Trombone Shorty (with Rod Stewart) on "Merry Christmas, Baby". Shreveport, Louisiana native Mikky Ekko was nominated (with Rihanna) in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category for the single "Stay". The song was written by Ekko and Justin Parker. Rihanna and Ekko performed the track at last year's Grammy awards (watch the video). The song is from Rihanna's album "Unapologetic," which was nominated in the Best Urban Contemporary Album category. Jason Aldean's album "Night Train" was nominated in the Best Country Album category. The LP includes a track ("Take A Little Ride") co-written by Jim McCormick. The Pretty Lights album "A Color Map of the Sun" was nominated in the Best Dance/Electronica Album category. Bishop Paul S. Morton was nominated in the Best Gospel Album category for "Best Days Yet". Bishop Morton is Co-Pastor of Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans. He is the father of PJ Morton, who was nominated for Best R&B Song. PJ Morton wrote and produced four songs on "Best Days Yet". Chinese pianist Lang Lang paid tribute to classical piano legend and Shreveport, LA native Van Cliburn (1934-2013) in the annual 'In Memoriam' segment. |
