June 20, 2000 - "Katanga Concert" - (BMG) - 2 CD set.

June 20, 2000 - "Satchmo The Great" - (Legacy) - re-release of the 1956 album (and 1994 CD) includes several interview clips with Armstrong, plus bonus tracks not on the original issue.

June 27, 2000 - "20 Blues Classics".

June 27, 2000 - "Ambassador Satch" - (Legacy) - Nine of this set's 13 tracks were taken from shows in Milan and Amsterdam that were part of Armstrong and the All-Stars' series of 1955 concerts in Western Europe. The remaining four titles, three of which are from 1956 (and previously unreleased), were recorded in New York or Hollywood studios (click for review and audio clips).

June 27, 2000 - "The Complete Satch Plays Fats" - (Legacy) - 20 song "Centennial Edition" is the complete 1955 album with seven bonus tracks not on the LP, plus four previously unreleased tracks (Note: six of the nine titles on the 1986 CD release were alternate takes rather than the master takes heard on the 1955 LP; the masters and alternates are included in this release).

August 1, 2000 - "Louis Armstrong & Duke Ellington: The Complete Sessions" - (Blue Note) - 2 CD set.

August 22, 2000 - "The Complete Hot Five and Hot Seven Recordings" - (Legacy) - 4-CD box set that compiles 89 Okeh/Columbia and related recordings from 1925-29, including the only Hot Five alternate take in existence! (see press release).

August 22, 2000 - "Satchmo" - (in DVD format) - 1990 documentary on Louis Armstrong gets the DVD treatment, with bonus audio tracks, a discography, a bio, a gallery of memorabilia, and more.

January 23, 2001 - "The Best of Dixieland - Louis Armstrong" - from the Pete Fountain "Best of Dixieland" series; "Louis played all kinds of music in his life," notes Pete, "I like to think that the kind of tunes he liked best were what he called 'the good old good ones.' By that he meant the traditional New Orleans repertoire. These were the songs that he grew up playing and that the rest of us pretty much all learned from him."
