Welcome to Caffeine Music, LLC Independent Music Publisher |
Caffeine Music, L.L.C. Caffeine Music is an independent music publisher, which aims to present the best of contemporary Americana and country songwriting, particularly that which is coming from New Orleans, LA. We recognize that in New Orleans there is an exceptionally rich reservoir of songwriters actively writing, collaborating and performing. The directors of Caffeine Music have placed songs with recording artists for such labels as Sony Records and Banks Street Records. We have also placed songs in independent films and network television series. For information about our catalog and current submission policies, please contact us via email at caffeinemusic@yahoo.com, by phone at (504) 488-7435 or at 1515 Poydras Street, Suite 1900, New Orleans, LA 70112. The New Orleans Songwriters Night Caffeine Music, in conjunction with Gambit Weekly, Abita Beer, Crescent Music Services, Balance Productions and Satchmo.com, presents the New Orleans Songwriters Night at Carrollton Station on the last Thursday of each month. January 30, 2003 - Carrollton Station featuring John Fohl, Eric Lindell and Mark Carson Stylistically, the Night hosts primarily acoustic guitar player / singer / songwriters, though room is kept for players of other instruments, who perform material falling somewhere in the genre of roots music (e.g. country, rock, folk, blues, cajun and others). Quality of material is the determining factor in all selections. This is not an open mic event. The proceedings of each night are determined around the performers, but there are some tried and true elements to this kind of event. Introductions by the host begin each concert. Writers sit in a round with each other. One writer performs his or her song, then the next writer performs, and so on. Concerts usually last about two hours. Guest hosts are invited to facilitate discussions between writers and audience members. The Night hosts songwriters from the surrounding community as well as those from elsewhere. We hope to lure songwriters of stature to New Orleans by providing a respectable and respected venue for the performance of acoustic music. Carrollton Station is an appropriate place for the night. The club and its clientele have long been hospitable toward acoustic music, and the club's performance room is intimate and away from the bar (i.e. more likely to be quiet) while being large enough for a hundred or so people. Hopefully this event will give New Orleans' songwriters a stronger presence here and a place for the city to show its support for songwriters. By participating in the New Orleans Songwriters' Night, sponsors have the opportunity to throw their practical support behind the city's songwriting community and to help strengthen our songwriters' presence in the music community of New Orleans as well as, by virtue of inviting songwriters from outside of New Orleans, that of the rest of the country.
